Better Processes for Global Products

Our World relies upon innumerable manufactured materials and products.

Manufacturing processes account for a major part of global energy consumption and emissions.

For more efficient and cleaner processes we need enhanced information.

Use a Multi-Dimensional Sensing (MDS) approach; more simply: Super-sensing.

Industry Sectors .. Sensing Methods

We group products with related themes and markets into Industry Sectors.

For example: Consumer Goods, Food and Drinks, Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, etc.

All processes transform raw materials to create new products. Many have generic features, for example: mixing, reaction, filtration, flow transport, etc.

Super-sensing systems exploit common features, for example in vessels and pipes.

Super-sensing in Action

We have developed successful Super-sensing methods - the selection below illustrates some of these in action for 3 key process types..

Future Challenges

The Consortium will on a range of specific challenges of major interest to users..

In spatial terms can we sense structure and composition from small to large length scales?

In temporal terms can we sense features in fast moving processes such as multi-component flows and high rate reactions?

Where processes feature multiple components can we gain integrated information: identifying different components and compositions, in spectroscopic terms, as well as spatial distribution?

Where we currently can only periodically sample and perform offline lab’ QA can we do this on-line and in real-time?

Can smart interpretation harness our process knowledge to radically enhance quality and speed of information gained?

Challenge Partnership

Industry and Research members share a common interest in developing and exploiting Super-sensing advances for industrial needs and global benefit.
